Photography nabbed me early, learning black and white film processing at age 13. My childhood bathroom became a darkroom, and with basic gear I was bulk loading, snapping pics, processing film and making prints before I could drive.

The passion continued through college while completing J-school with a few photojournalism classes. More black and white with a K-1000 and processing in the university lab. After school, I took some time away from the viewfinder to start a business and a family.

In early 2018 I felt an itch and dove back in, primarily with film in rangefinder bodies, medium format box cameras and TLRs. I love the restrictions and simplicity of minimal controls and the patience required to choose the right moment to fire the shutter. I also enjoy architectural photography, or anywhere the contrast of texture, shadow, and light are at play.

Candid photos have always captivated me. I have a deep appreciation for street photography and striking black and white images. My intention is to capture special moments, expressions, situations… rarely posed.

These days I'm approaching my photography with intention, awareness of the moment, and learning more about how to keep things simple. Digital is slowly taking over, and this website was created as a clearing house to share my art with others. My son Robyn is enjoying this new journey with me. It’s therapy, and hopefully brings some joy to others. Enjoy.
